At what age should my child pronounce L correctly?

It is typical for children to have difficulty pronouncing the "L" sound when they are first learning to speak. This is because the "L" sound is a later developing sound, and children typically do not have the fine motor control and coordination necessary to produce it accurately until they are around four or five years old.

If your child is not yet four or five years old and is having difficulty pronouncing the "L" sound, it is not cause for concern. As they continue to develop and gain more control over their mouth and speech muscles, they will likely be able to produce the "L" sound more accurately.

If your child is four or five years old or older and is still having difficulty pronouncing the "L" sound, it may be worth seeking help from a speech-language pathologist. A speech-language pathologist can assess your child's speech and provide guidance and support to help them improve their pronunciation.

You can also try the Home Activities and Games in Articulation Teacher to work on the "L" sound, as well as other advanced sounds like "S" or "R".
